“Never Comes the Day” (Moody Blues Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Welcome to another edition of the Laptop Sessions!!

Anyway, this song, “Never Comes the Day”, is a Moody Blues tune from “On the Threshold of a Dream” that I absolutely love. Plus, it works great with two people. Justin Hayward (who wrote this song) has a great way of writing a nice, slow song…then busting out to a faster section of the song. Despite the fact that “Threshold” is one of my favorite Moodies albums, this tune always stood out to me because of the way Hayward sings the line, “If only you knew what’s inside of me now…”

I hope you enjoy my first duet here on the Laptop Sessions! Stay tuned for more and keep those requests coming!

The Newest Video Blog – A Series by Songwriters!

By Jeff Copperthite:

I know you wonder how it is going with the Fusco-Moore Productions crew, so here is another update.

As you have seen, as of Saturday all members of FMP have contributed to the Laptop Sessions, and they are slowly gaining popularity among youtube viewers (as well as those reading this blog – like yourself. You’re a distinguished individual for reading this blog!), and hopefully other well known people.

However, you’ll notice Thursday was the last time I have done a session. There are two reasons for this.

One, I want to get to know the video software that came with my web camera, because Youtube quickcapture is a bit, well, slow. When you watch them, it looks like our strumming hand is one huge blur. That, and you can see us going to the computer to click “Save and Continue”. You’ll also notice Jim and Chris’ videos have titles to them. I want to learn how to do that, so that way, you can hear as little of my voice as possible.

The second is Friday night I injured my left index finger – falling up the stairs. Just when that people only fell down the stairs, I have defied yet another law of nature. That was all that happened, and thankfully it isn’t broken. It is a bit swollen right now, but I figure tomorrow or Tuesday it should be fine enough to play again.

Speaking of playing and recording, another song is almost done for the EP. Only the bass is left to record. I can’t wait to get to the other 3 songs to record. I can see the end of recording in sight. Baseball season is over as of Saturday, so now the weekends are now much more available.

When my finger does heal, I will be playing a couple of Jim Fusco originals on my laptop sessions installments. Hopefully Jim’s ears won’t cringe (or his eyes for that matter) when he hears them.

Until then…

“Blow Away” (George Harrison cover)

By Jim Fusco

The next edition of The Laptop Sessions comes to you with a song from George Harrison. Man, do I love this song. It’s got George’s great lyrics that let you know it’s “him” and it’s also got such a catchy chorus. Even if you don’t know this tune, I’m sure you’ll love it once you hear it.

George is so underrated, and I plan on doing many of his songs in the future. Until then, please enjoy this one and stay tuned for more Laptop Sessions!

“Country Air” (Beach Boys Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Well, my first request fulfilled tonight! Of course, it’s one from a genre we’ve become known for here on the Laptop Sessions acoustic cover songs music video blog: Beach Boys cover songs.  Talk about obscure- here’s a song from the Beach Boys “Wild Honey” album. It’s called “Country Air”. I love the Boys’ harmonies on this song, but this take kinda gives it that down-home “country” feel to it.

I’ve always loved the dark sounding piano they used in this song, but, of course, I’ll take it on guitar. If I had a better sounding keyboard, I’d use that.

For all these videos so far, I’ve used my classical-stringed guitar that I bought in Sicily. I don’t know why, but it’s fun to play.  It also kind of replicates that darker sounding piano that’s in the original.  You just get to hear this song played a bit differently- and isn’t that what the cover songs music blog is all about?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this song, and maybe next one will be a little more “known”.

But, if you have ANY Beatles, Beach Boys cover songs, Moody Blues, or Byrds songs you’d like me to do, I DEFINITELY will! (Unless it’s Good Vibrations or something that would sound ridiculous with just one person…).

I hope you enjoy! Please subscribe to my videos at http://youtube.com/jimfusco.
