Three years is a long time. In three years, spanning 1999-2001, WCJM did 15 Moore Hits in the Morning Shows. That’s five a year. After the Best Original Christmas Song Show in late 2003, WCJM took a three-year unplanned hiatus.

The WCJM free Internet radio cast was growing up. Jeff had gotten married, Jim, Chris, Alberto, and Dave were all finishing college. Mike and Matt were halfway through college already. But, Christmastime is a season that brings everyone back home. So, three years after their last show, the ENTIRE WCJM cast went back to do another.

Actually, it had been since 2001 when the only WCJM show with all seven cast members took place. So, this was actually five years in the making. The Christmas Vacation Show, as it came to be called, would showcase some great new Christmas music alongside some forgotten old classics.

Not only was the entire cast of Chris, Jim, Mike, Alberto, Dave, Matt, and Jeff present, but everyone contributed. There were just as many skits as songs, and the laughs kept on comin’! Matt’s new Best Buy related standup, Jeff’s usual cast of characters, Jim’s mound of material, Dr. K’s epic “Gnome for the Holidays”, and even a skit by Chris all made this show very memorable.

A lot of fun was made about how “old” the cast was getting, but if it’s bringing old friends together, age really doesn’t matter. Everyone had a great time on the show and you can tell just by hearing it that everyone really loves each other’s company.

So, add another comedy radio show to the list of Christmastime must-listens. This one, though, will make you realize how important spending time with your best friends means. Even if you can only get together every three years.

How many times can Matt Griffiths say, “Oh my God” in one show?  I don’t think Alberto can count that high!  This show has now taken a seat next to The Comedy Show as one of the funniest things to come out of WCJM free Internet radio.  The format followed this pattern: skit, song, skit, song.  This made for songs with double meanings and too many puns to bear!  And that’s not a Stuffy pun.

Skits like “The Rascal,” two Dr. Keck segments, a Spy Convention skit, and Stuffy D. Bear made this show incredibly hilarious.  There was also a new character called the Food Critic, played by Jim.  This show has great news reports, hilarious sports, and other great reports during the Traffic, News, and Weather segments.

The original cast plus Matt came back for this well rounded show.  The songs had trivia after them and there was even an investigation on the Beatles’ “Paul is Dead” hoax.  Matt also wrote his Minor Pain Christmastime Hits promo (see below).  Jim used his new DJ Machine to provide the music for the skits and the trivia questions, making for a constant beat during the show.

The show started off shaky (as usual), but after a microphone mix up was fixed, the show went off without a hitch.  Dave and Chris were actually funny!  That’s enough to make anyone want to listen to the show.  There was also a pun tournament during the comedy radio show.  Each pun was carefully counted by Alberto, and here is the final list:

The WCJM cast got together again for yet another morning show. This theme was thought of by Jim. He decided that he knew too many great songs that he previously refrained from playing on the shows. He also had a hunch that the other cast members had songs they wanted to play that were pretty obscure. So, each cast member chose a few songs that had not been the singles off of the albums, but were just regular album cuts. This show is also recorded in stereo to let you hear all the side comments that are often lost in a mono mix- listen to this show on headphones!

The free Internet radio cast consisted of Chris, Jim, Mike, Dave, Matt, and Jeff. Alberto went A.W.O.L. on this show because of a Dave Matthew’s Band concert he attended. Jim made a comment about Alberto’s absence in one of comedy segments, too. Jaime Moore, Chris’s sister (who originally did radio shows with Chris back in the mid-1990s), sat by to listen to the show, as well.

This show has some of the funniest comedy segments ever done, including Matt’s classic first standup comedy segment that’s “completely related” to his job at Subway, the Food Critic taking on Jim by doing his own World Report, Chris’s classic “Stink” skit (actually written by, but not credited to Mike and Jim), Ronco (of course), a great TNWST with a hilarious soda pun segment, and Dr. K. Dave’s laugh not only leads off the show, but makes multiple appearances throughout the show, as well.

As Lawrence Muntz pointed out, “It’s been ‘Muntz’ since I’ve done this,” but this show proved that the WCJM cast still had it. The funny radio show went off without a hitch (other than Chris knocking the power to the mixer off during a song) and this stands as one the best shows WCJM doesn’t want not to hear of anymore!

After the greatness of the Best Song EVER! Show, the WCJM free Internet radio cast wondered how they would top themselves.  If the criteria are music quality and professionalism, then the answer is The Best Guitar Riffs Show.  This show held 26 of the best the guitar riff songs ever made, and even had two songs written by the hosts themselves!  Guitar riffs, or repeating guitar patterns as you hear in the background, were combined with Chris Moore’s radio personality, Jim Fusco’s producing power, Mike Fusco’s color comedy, Alberto Distefano’s lasting sense of humor, and Dave Perrelli’s witty interludes to make this show take over the title of the best Moore Hits in the Morning show ever!

The grouped gathered on the day between Good Friday and Easter (April 22, 2000) to have a part Easter celebration, part guitar riff show.  The show began with Mike’s famous theme song, and a three-minute clip of the best guitar riffs of all time, as you hear in the background.  Then came a shout out to the Parker Farms elementary school homework club, in which each cast member read off a list of names.  After that, the show began with Jim Fusco passing the hosting reigns on to Chris Moore, allowing him to do the tedious job of producing the show.  Right off the bat, they went into a song which also was the first candidate for the best guitar riff of all time.  After that the show moved right into the traffic, News, weather, sports, and technology information reports.  After this, the show went on with six more songs, and then the ending of the first side.

The second and third sides followed the same format, with a twin spin; traffic, News, and weather; and then a block of songs.  The last side however, followed at different format.  The last few songs were played, then traffic, News, and weather followed.  Then came a dedication to Jim Fusco by playing “Birthday” by the Beatles for Jim’s 16th birthday on April 29.  After that, Dr. K’s “Where Have All the Midgets Gone” aired, as well as a special song written by Jim Fusco about a friend of his on vacation in Germany.  The song was to the tune of the Beatles’ song “Back in the USSR”, but was more properly titled, “Back in the Good Ole Deutschland”.  These songs gave the cast some time to calculate the average score of each guitar riff.  (Throughout to show, each host rated each guitar riff on a scale from one through five, and five being the highest)  After the totals were calculated, two songs ended up with a perfect five score.  These two songs were then voted on a scale from one through ten.  After the recount, one song beat the other by only .4 of a point!  To find out what song won, click on the links below to listen to the tape in Real Audio!  Then, after listening to the songs, vote for what you think the best guitar riff is by clicking the poll link below.

If I may quote Chris, “We don’t need any of us here, because we’ve got the music.”  This is very true when speaking of the Best Guitar Riffs Show because of the pure quality of the music that was showcased in it.  The lead-ins to each song sound well thought out, and there are very few times when there is more than one conversation going on.  I guess after doing seven prior shows, the cast has now moved into true professionalism.  Moore Hits in the Morning has now set the standard for its future comedy radio shows.
