Announcing a new Laptop Sessions weekly feature: “The Weekend Review”

By Chris Moore:

Those of you who regularly check the Laptop Sessions homepage for fresh material may have noticed that I have been writing a music review once a week, posting it on either Saturday or Sunday.  Since we shifted away from the “session-a-day” format, these two days have generally been a dry spot for new material on the website.

And why shouldn’t there be something new to look forward to as you’re kicking back on the weekend and wishing you had something new to read or watch?

Starting now, the Laptop Sessions will be posting a music review once every week on either Saturday or Sunday.  This segment, titled “The Weekend Review,” will focus on new albums that have just been released, classic albums that transcend time, “deep racks reports” on albums that have been underrated and/or forgotten about, and live acoustic and rock music in the tri-state area.

If you or your band has released any music recently — albums, EP’s, singles, etc. — then submit your music HERE to be reviewed.

Get tuned in to the albums and songs worth writing about — don’t miss an edition of “The Weekend Review”!

Some great songs for Thanksgiving Day: A Playlist

By Chris Moore:

This Turkey Day, if you’re searching your shelves or mp3 player for some appropriate music, then look no further.  This morning, as I was preparing to seize the Thanksgiving Day, I began thinking about songs that I would like to hear throughout the day.  After some brainstorming of relevant topics and themes, and a great deal of musical exploration via my iTunes, I came up with the following list.

As you read through the list, you’ll notice the dual take on thanksgiving — the first set of songs are positive songs of “thanks,” while the second segment is devoted to more sarcastic takes on the sentiment.  Then come the songs about pilgrims and Native Americans, followed by tracks about food — what else?  Top it all off with a final set of songs about the family and Marcy Playground’s “Thank You,” and you’ve got yourself a Thanksgiving day playlist!

1)  “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Again)” -Sly & The Family Stone

2)  “Thank You Girl” – The Beatles

3)  “Photo (The Thanksgiving Song)” – Mike Fusco

4)  “The Thanks I Get” – Wilco

5)  “Thank You for Sharing” – The Vanity Project

6)  “You To Thank” – Ben Folds

7)  “Thanks a Lot” – Third Eye Blind

8)  “Pilgrimage” – R.E.M.

9)  “Indian Reservation” – Paul Revere & the Raiders

10)  “Pilgrim” – Eric Clapton

11)  “Ten Little Indians” – The Beach Boys

12)  “Lone Pilgrim” – Bob Dylan

13)  “Food Party” – Barenaked Ladies

14)  “Vegetables” – The Beach Boys

15)  “Eat Healthy” – Jim Gaffigan

16)  “Family Affair” – Sly & The Family Stone

17)  “The Family Gardener” – Jeff Tweedy

18)  “Thank You” – Marcy Playground

FMP Studios has its own domain name!

Just a quick announcement:

I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a new domain name for FMP Studios, the premier music, video, graphics, marketing, and photo restoration studio: FMP-Studios.com!

We’ll be updating links to this site soon and I hope you’ll check it out. We offer a ton of great services, all of which you can read about right here on the Fusco-Moore Productions cover songs music video blog by searching “FMP Studios” in the search box on the top of the page. You’ll be blown away by our unique combination of: fast turnaround times, professional custom results, and lowest prices anywhere!

Let me just say, as well, that running this website (and the other six we have) isn’t easy. Working full time, doing a video every three days, and planning a wedding all contribute to the difficulty.

But, over the past few days, Chris Moore has really stepped-up and has done some great things for the site. You see, my job here on the video blog is to come up with ideas for new features and more ways to get us noticed. And then, I have to figure out how to make those ideas come to life. We’ve seen many examples of this over the past two months or so. We now have a full sitemap, an incredibly extensive directory, links to every category, and so much more. Plus, we post at least once a day.

Chris isn’t a coding kinda guy like me. But, he really wanted to help. So, I gave him some large tasks to do. With some help from Jeff, Chris wrote literally 50 pages worth of unique and informative content to put on ALL of our category pages! It was an incredible amount of work and I want him to know that it was appreciated and will be very helpful to our cause very soon. He also made great descriptions for the site and is making great posts for WCJM Radio and FMP Studios. I’ve had so much of the burden taken off of me. I usually have to come up with the ideas, DO ALL THE WORK, and THEN implement it all.

With Chris’ help, I’ve been able to do so many more unique things to the site because I don’t have to spend my time actually making the content, like I’ve always had to do in the past. Now, I can focus on making the site work properly and getting these enhancements to really make the site better in the end.

I also appreciate Jeff’s consistency here- I never have to bug him to do his Session. I never have to tell him to do a better job. He just does it. And now, since Chris should probably get a break from some of this stuff, I might have to start bugging Jeff soon! 🙂

What a team…

Songwriters Expand their Talents: Two brand-new WCJM Free Internet Radio shows added!

By Jim Fusco:

Well, it only took four months, but today I finally put two new WCJM Internet Radio shows online! These shows are free to listen to and do not have any advertisements or accounts to create. All you need is the RealPlayer (any version works fine) and you’ll be hysterically laughing in no time!

The first show is called “The Originals Show”, hosted by the original four cast members of WCJM’s flagship show, Moore Hits in the Morning. The cast consisted of Chris Moore, Jim Fusco, Mike Fusco, and Alberto Distefano. The show was done just days after Christmas 2007 and featured songs by bands when they still had all of their original members! There were great skits, including the WCJM Merchandise Store skit, Celebrity Jeopardy from Beyond the Grave, Traffic, News, Weather, and Sports, plus much more. It’s a great show- to access it, just click on the Moore Hits in the Morning Radio in the center of the screen and scroll all the way to the end to find this, our latest morning show.

The second show is a solo effort from Jim Fusco on his “Jammin’ with Jim” radio show. In 2000, Jim did the “Leap Year Show” and vowed to do another every four years. Unfortunately, he forgot in 2004, but is back again in 2008 to do an extra-special Leap Year Show! This show has many of Jim’s famous twin-spins with songs from Stone Temple Pilots, the Wallflowers, the Beach Boys, the Moody Blues, Ben Folds, and many more! Jim also does a sit-down comedy routine, Stupid People of America, the Police Blotter, traffic and weather together, and many more segments in a fast-paced show!

I hope all the viewers to the Fusco-Moore Productions Blog will check out WCJM Radio, as we spent SO much time writing great skits and making great radio shows for the world to enjoy! Again, everything is FREE on WCJM and the shows are a great way to pass the time during those long work days.
