WCJM Free Internet Radio launches a brand-new Homerun Derby Show!

By Jim Fusco:

WCJM Free Internet Radio, the home of great free comedy skits for the past ten years, has done yet another radio show and you can listen to it for free online!

The Homerun Derby Show 4: The Grand Slam Show was recorded a few weeks ago.  It’s a great game of baseball with the cast of Moore 94.2 including the Laptop Sessions’ own Jim Fusco, Chris Moore, Jeff Copperthite, and Mike Fusco.  Cast members Alberto Distefano and Matt Griffiths were there for the festivities, as well.

The show was recorded on the 10th anniversary of the station and the home runs were certainly flying that day!  We hope you’ll go check out the show and the rest of what WCJM free internet radio has to offer.

“Tuning In” (Original song by Jim Fusco) – The Open Mic Sessions

By Jim Fusco:

Welcome to another edition of The Open Mic Sessions with Jim Fusco!  Today is the final video from my April 3rd, 2013 stop at Sam Ash music store in New Haven, CT.  I played my original song, “Tuning In” from my 2009 album, “Halfway There”.  I’ve always loved to play this song.  Something about the beat always sticks with me.

The chorus is one of my favorites, as well.  The words fit really well and the tune really resonates with me.  If you haven’t heard the studio version yet, you should head on over to my website and check it out- click HERE to learn more about the album, “Halfway There”.

I hope these original songs are translating well solo acoustically.  In my head, I hear the whole produced version.  It’s funny that way- when I write the song, it’s usually just me and a guitar.  But, after I record it, I kind of lose that original sound.  Then, it’s tough for me to cut it back to its original solo acoustic roots.  With the cover songs I do, that’s always been a fun exercise, but as a songwriter basically “covering” his own songs, it’s much more difficult.  I always think I’m not doing the song justice or that I’m leaving something out that will detract from people’s enjoyment.

So, let me know what you think!  I’ll be interested and appreciative to hear any feedback, especially if you’ve also heard the studio version.  I hope you enjoy the video either way, and will come back for more original songs on my solo acoustic and electric live performances here on The Open Mic Sessions!  And you’ll only find them here on the Laptop Sessions acoustic cover songs music video blog!

“Cemeteries of London” (Coldplay Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

Good evening and thank you for visiting guitarbucketlist.com on this Thumpin’ Thursday.  I bring you another popular band on this site for your enjoyment this evening.

I’m trying to perform some more songs this year that are not singles (or are not yet singles), and tonight is one of them.  From Coldplay’s recent album “Viva La Vida”, I bring you “Cemeteries of London”.  I really enjoy this album, and later in the year I plan on taking on a more involved song from this same album – and no, it’s not a single either.

Tomorrow the new semester begins, and I have worked all day to get things ready for it.  I am most excited to be teaching Physics this coming semester, as well as the classic Earth Science that I have taught six times in the past 2 years.

Also, I am approaching 80K views.  This will most likely happen tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy today’s entry!  Stay tuned as we continue to bring you sessions in 2009!

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Jeff’s acoustic cover song music videos are no longer on YouTube, but we decided to keep his cover song blog posts up.  We figured these music blog entries would be good for posterity’s sake and because Jeff always gave such insightful posts each Session.  We hope to see Jeff’s impressive catalog of acoustic rock songs here on the Laptop Sessions cover songs and origianal music blog again in the future.  But, for now, please make sure to check-out hundreds of other acoustic cover songs from all of your favorite bands here on the Laptop Sessions music blog!
