“Take Your Mama” (Scissor Sisters Cover)

Welcome, welcome to another Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! edition of the Laptop Sessions with me, Jim Fusco!

Yes, yet another new band to the series tonight: Scissor Sisters!

We’re very happy to add this band to the Sessions because I’m not into too many newer bands, and I finally get a chance to get a shot at a newer band.

This band is very interesting to me- some of their songs, like “Mary”, are so amazing. But then, you get other songs that are so crazy techno that I can’t get into them.

But this song single-handedly got me into the Scissor Sisters and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to do a cover song from them.

Stay tuned- many new bands to come in the next few weeks and make sure to come back tomorrow y’all for another great acoustic cover song from Chris Moore and the Laptop Sessions!

“It’s Now or Never” (Elvis Presley Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Welcome to another edition of the Laptop Sessions, which is gaining popularity in leaps and bounds!

We’ve had visitors in 12 countries and 18 states within the past 4 days alone!

Tonight, I finally give you an Elvis Presley song, “It’s Now Or Never”. This is a great, classic tune- originally an Italian song.

This was a fun one, especially because it’s out of the normal rock style we do here on the Laptop Sessions.

It’s great to add Elvis to the repertoire, and we’ll be doing many of his songs from now on. Enjoy and see you tomorrow!

“Drive” (The Cars) Cover

Welcome to your Monday, Monday edition of The Laptop Sessions at https://guitarbucketlist.com !

Tonight, I give you a song from another band we haven’t done yet, “The Cars”.

Now, I always thought that “Just What I Needed” was their biggest hit, but this song, “Drive”, was actually a #3 hit on Billboard pop charts, their highest charting song.

I love this song- it’s the quintessential 80s ballad. The chord progression is great and it’s sung from such a youthful point of view. I mean, the chivalry of driving someone home just doesn’t exist now. And, it’s only been about 20 years!

Another interesting point about this tune is that it was written by the keyboardist for the band, Greg Hawkes. And, the song is originally sung by the bassist, Benjamin Orr. You would expect their biggest hit to go to Ric Ocasek, but that’s the way things go. I always thought that it wasn’t fair that the Doobie Brothers main original guy, Tom Johnston, never got a #1 hit. But, another member, Pat Simmons, did with “Black Water”. And, years later, Michael McDonald did with “What A Fool Believes”.

Well, I hope you enjoy tonight’s Session and make sure to come back tomorrow for Chris’ Session!

Well, let’s break another record! YouTube Acoustic Music Videos Outperform Expectations

By Jim Fusco:

Well, we did it again- I predicted 55,000 YouTube views on my acoustic cover videos by the end of May.  Well, here we are, and I’m at 58,000 views!  That’s 3,000 above my goal, which was a pretty lofty goal to begin with.

By the end of June, I hope to have 75,000 views, which is gonna be tough.  but, I think with a lot more promotion of my acoustic guitar music cover songs we can get there.  Of course, the Laptop Sessions video blog will continue to produce the best acoustic covers on a daily basis, so keep coming back for more!
