“Pinch Me” (Barenaked Ladies Cover)

By Mike Fusco:

This song was done on the first take with the help of my bro Big Fusc, which was a lot of fun to do on the fly.  I heard this catchy pop song first in the Meriden Mall shopping and it was after I was into BNL, but before I realized “Wow, this song was THEM!”  And I cracked up at the line “I could hide out under there… I just made you say underwear”, which, comically enough, Jim JUST got this joke on Sunday night.  (how many years???  haha make sure to give him grief over that!)  This is from the album Maroon, a great album, and this song captures how I’m feeling right now… Not necessarily bad or down, actually very upbeat.

But,  I still feel like I’m walking around in a state of disbelief.  (so, Pinch Me!)  I hope you enjoy this acoustic cover me and my brother whipped up for the guitarbucketlist.com blog!

Leave me some love!

“All I Want is You” (U2 Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

Welcome to Thumpin’ Thursday w/ Jeff!  Today I bring you another band we’ve covered in the past.  This one, however, is more in my register than the past ones from this band.

Not to say I did a bad job previously – it takes a lot to cover a song from U2.  Bono is an incredible singer (although I do find his single word name a bit pretensious).  This particular song came from a sort of video documentary that they put out after their hit album “The Joshua Tree”.  This song is from that movie “Rattle and Hum”.  Of course, it was also released as a single.

I had my formal observation in school today, so I’ve been wired all day since it’s finished with.  I got to relax this evening, and enjoy some basketball.  Even though I didn’t pick UConn to get into the Final Four, i’m still hoping they do.

Enjoy this evening’s video, and i’ll see you next week!

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Jeff’s acoustic cover song music videos are no longer on YouTube, but we decided to keep his cover song blog posts up.  We figured these music blog entries would be good for posterity’s sake and because Jeff always gave such insightful posts each Session.  We hope to see Jeff’s impressive catalog of acoustic rock songs here on the Laptop Sessions cover songs and original music blog again in the future.  But, for now, please make sure to check-out hundreds of other acoustic cover songs from all of your favorite bands here on the Laptop Sessions music blog!

“Do You Remember?” (Jack Johnson Cover)

By Chris Moore:

Tonight, I introduce an artist that Jim has been asking for weeks why we haven’t covered before…Jack Johnson! This is a song from his last album, In Between Dreams, titled “Do You Remember?” It’s a great acoustic number from this great album, and it’s a perfect fit for this series.

On a side note, if I’ve counted correctly, this is my 60th Laptop Session! What a trip it’s been, and we’re not even halfway through the session-a-day commitment for 2008. It’s a bit daunting, but I hope that our viewership only continues to rise. Help spread the word — send your friends to https://guitarbucketlist.com !

Be sure to come back tomorrow for another quality video from Jeff.

See you next session!

“Eleanor Rigby” (Beatles Cover)

By Federico Borluzzi:

Acoustic cover of “Eleanor Rigby” from the Revolver album (1966).  I didn’t have any orchestra, so I find my way to play this song with my acoustic guitar only.

** EDITOR’S NOTE: **

Go ahead and check out this stellar solo version of the Beatles classic “Eleanor Rigby.”  I, for one, wish I could fingerpick and sing at the same time like Federico can — I would have gotten a lot less comments on my “Just Breathe” (Pearl Jam) video, I can tell you that much!

The Laptop Sessions all began with Jim’s first Beatles cover song music video of “Here, There, and Everywhere,” and it’s always exciting to be able to induct a new, interesting cover into the Beatles category.  Thanks, Federico, for another great contribution to the Guest Sessions!
