“Sweet Dream Baby” (Roy Oribison Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Welcome, welcome to another edition of the Laptop Sessions with me, Jim Fusco!

We’re all very excited here in Fusco-Moore Productions Land because of our upcoming Homerun Derby Show for WCJM Free Internet Radio this Friday.  I sincerely hope it pans out.  We should be able to get six of the seven original members of the cast to play!  Expect appearances by Jim Ross and Howard Cosell, too.

Today, I bring you another Roy Orbison tune called “Sweet Dream Baby”.  It’s a really easy song to play, so it might be a good choice if you’re just starting out on guitar.  The only problem is the guitar strumming beat, which is a little tricky.  The lyrics are simple, but again, how can you argue when it’s a good tune and was  a hit on top of it?   And yes, my version is devoid of the slightly out of place female background singers that are in the original.

I can’t believe I’m not putting a new artist on the Sessions today.  Actually, I won’t be putting a new one on for probably the next month, but who knows when the inspiration will strike.  Chris, Becky, and I did some collaborations the other day that you’re going to love, so I hope you’ll keep coming back to check us out!  Remember to use the “Share This” link at the top of every post to send these songs to your friends and loved ones- you are really our best hope for making the Laptop Sessions as popular as we all think it should be!  See you tomorrow with a great Chris Moore Acoustic Cover Song here on the greatest music and video blog in the world: The Laptop Sessions!

“Let It Grow” (Eric Clapton Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Welcome, welcome to yet another edition of “I Can’t Believe It’s My Night Already” here on the Laptop Sessions with me, Jim Fusco!  Tonight, I bring you a great song from Eric Clapton, and yes, his solo work counts as yet ANOTHER new band here on the best music video blog in the universe!

So, we keep the hits on comin’ and I’m here tonight to slow it down a bit with this song, “Let It Grow”.   It’s got a great tune with a nice feel to it.  I hope you’ll also like my rendition of Jim Fusco’s classic “vocal guitar solo”.  I think it came out great and I’m pretty proud of this Laptop Session, mostly because of how great my Zoom H2 microphone picks it all up.

I’ll be doing more from Clapton in the future, although I wouldn’t really consider myself a “fan”.  I just have these random obsessions, and it’s great to have the Laptop Sessions as an outlet to get it out of my system for a while.   I’ve had an obsession with this song for many years- one of those ones that comes up on random and I scream, “Oh YEAH!”

Anyway, enjoy tonight’s Laptop Session, on time, as usual, and come on’ back tomorrow for Chris’ next acoustic rock cover song ya’hear? 🙂

“Don’t Know A Thing About Love” (Ringo Starr Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Hey HEY!  Welcome to your Sunday, Sunday, Sunday fix of The Laptop Sessions with me, Jim Fusco!  Am I the only one excited to still bring you these on a daily basis?  Sure, it’s a pain, but so is seeing your in-laws…and I’m sure everyone does that more often than they’d like to.

Tonight, I bring you a song that I simply LOVE.  That kinda fits because Ringo Starr is all about peace, love, and understanding.  He’s a cool dude, and even though he didn’t write this song, I still love it.  This was from Ringo’s first “comeback” album, “Time Takes Time”, one of my favorites growing up in the early 90s.  This is the first album he did with the Roundheads and the sounds is just so classic to me.

This album is the last one before he started to write almost every song.  If you’ve been to the music blog before, you know that I’m a HUGE fan of people writing their own songs.  But, Ringo did know how to pick some great ones including “Weight of the World”, which I’ll also be doing as a cover song at some point here on the best video blog online!

This song has a great tune, a great message, and a good beat.  Sounds like a great song to me!  Plus, I get to sing like Ringo, which is always so much fun.  Don’t worry, I didn’t do an impersonation, though!  I hope you enjoy tonight’s video as we look towards the unofficial last day of summer tomorrow, fitting that we have a teacher posting tomorrow- one, Chris Moore!!

“Can’t Help Falling In Love” (Elvis Presley Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Congratulations to Mike Fusco for his first Laptop Session!

It’s been a few months since we started the Laptop Sessions acoustic rock cover songs video blog.  And that entire time, we’ve been trying to get my brother Mike Fusco into the mix, no pun intended.  You may remember Mike Fusco as the famous voice and mind behind Dr. K. on WCJM free internet radio.  You may also remember Mike as the “self-proclaimed teen heartthrob.”  But here on the Laptop Sessions, he’s simply Mike Fusco- singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and fellow mater of the cover song art.

Tonight, I graciously gave Mike my normal spot in the cover song rotation (in other words, “YES! I get a day off- thank you Mike!), but don’t worry, I’ll be back on Tuesday with another great cover song from another artist we haven’t covered yet here on the music blog.

Mike begins his tenue with the Laptop Sessions with his emotional cover of Elvis Presley’s classic love song, “Can’t Help Falling In Love.”  Mike did a great job with this, giving the song extra meaning, considering the situation he was in.  I’m happy that instead of just sulking, he turned his emotions into a great cover of this classic song.

We hope to get a Mike song on the video blog once a week.  He has our full support here and we hope you’ll help welcome Mike to the Laptop Sessions!
