Welcome to your Thumpin’ Thursday edition of the Laptop Sessions! I bring you yet another song from the Wallflowers, and one that not everyone is going to catch.

The song is “Empire in My Mind”, which is a bonus track from their album “Red Letter Days”. It is a solidly written song as well. While simple as well, it remains a favorite of mine.

The Laptop Sessions continue the trek through 2008 for a Session a day! Stay tuned for my next video, and then my next edition of Original Wednesday.

I hope you are enjoying the Laptop Sessions!

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Jeff’s acoustic cover song music videos are no longer on YouTube, but we decided to keep his cover song blog posts up.  We figured these music blog entries would be good for posterity’s sake and because Jeff always gave such insightful posts each Session.  We hope to see Jeff’s impressive catalog of acoustic rock songs here on the Laptop Sessions cover songs and original music blog again in the future.  But, for now, please make sure to check-out hundreds of other acoustic cover songs from all of your favorite bands here on the Laptop Sessions music blog!

“Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam Cover)

Welcome to Monday’s Laptop Session, and I’m back with another Pearl Jam song, this time going back to their 2nd album “Vs.”

This song also earns the title “Longest Song Title ever”, as I couldn’t even fit it into the Title field on YouTube (however, here it’s fine).

The song is “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town”, and is a song that Scott & I have played for a long time. Usually, we’ll swap instruments and he’ll play the bass to it while I do my half-ass guitar part (well, compared to him. He is the guitarist in the band after all).

This song is very sweet and easy to listen too. I hope you enjoy it.

Stay tuned for Jim’s new session, and see what Chris brings out of the woodwork for Original Wednesday.

Oh, and I’m ever so close to the 3,000 view mark! Thank you everybody for making the Laptop Sessions such a success.

Please visit https://guitarbucketlist.com/ for more sessions. Also, check out my EP “Greenlight”.

Welcome to your fantastic Friday edition of the Laptop Sessions! Today I bring you a fantastic – if short – song from Paul McCartney.

The song is the title track from his 1997 album Flaming Pie, and is a great song. I heard this song (and then, this album) thanks to Jim playing it for a show we did back in 2001.

I hope to learn some more tunes from Paul in the future for more sessions. He really is quite a writer and this is expected given who he is.

I also hope you enjoy this video, and thank you for continuing to watch The Laptop Sessions.

As always, check https://guitarbucketlist.com/ for more! And, be sure to check out my EP “Greenlight”.

“Breezy” (Final Fantasy VIII (8) Soundtrack Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

And once again, for something totally new in a few ways to the Laptop Sessions – a song from a video game.

Not just any video game, but from my all time favorite series. Final Fantasy has been a mainstay for me for nearly 20 years, and I have always been a fan of all the soundtracks. My MP3 player has nearly every OST song from the games, and they are high in my top 20.

The song I have chose to play is from Final Fantasy 8, and it is called Breezy. Oddly enough, it is also the music that plays when you go to the character Zell’s hometown (and if you notice my name, zell is the first four letters).

It also is one of the few songs that Nobuo Uematsu (was Final Fantasy’s main composer for quite some time) wrote solely for guitar. The rest of the soundtrack is typical to a video game.

Anyway, enjoy this instrumental laptop session. Check out Jim’s Original Wednesday contribution — Laptop Session a day is 36/36 in 2008!
