“With A Little Help From My Friends” (Beatles Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

Good afternoon to you! Welcome to your Tuesday edition of the Laptop Sessions, where we are getting more known each day, especially for our Beatles cover songs.

I bring you a song that has been covered many, many times (did I mention many?). It’s from the Beatles and the classic album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (also a favorite of my music teacher from high school). “With A Little Help From My Friends” is among their most well-known songs, and is also one that Scott & I covered frequently in our jam sessions. However, I usually played the bass to it.

I think I did a good job on this performance, although I sang the backup vocal part at the end, rather than the high note. Other than that this version came out quite well.

Check back tomorrow where Jim will be performing an original song. Have a great rest of the day!

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Jeff’s acoustic cover song music videos are no longer on YouTube, but we decided to keep his cover song blog posts up.  We figured these music blog entries would be good for posterity’s sake and because Jeff always gave such insightful posts each Session.  We hope to see Jeff’s impressive catalog of acoustic rock songs here on the Laptop Sessions cover songs and original music blog again in the future.  But, for now, please make sure to check-out hundreds of other acoustic cover songs from all of your favorite bands here on the Laptop Sessions music blog!

“Yesterday” (Beatles Cover)

By Jeff:

Let us continue our Beatles cover songs streak!

Oddly enough, I read an article today that The Beatles are breaking records (again) from album sales in the past couple of weeks.  So why not continue to post about possibly the best group ever.

So here’s a great classic song from their 1965 album “Help!” called “Yesterday”.  It’s a great ballad about a surprise departure.  Kind of odd that my song from last week was about a surprise arrival.

This song was recorded late at night.  Forgive the brevity of this post.  I’m busy as anything.

And it’s almost the end of September.  Already.

And why aren’t you following me on Twitter 😀  I’ll update more than twice a month of I get more than two followers.  Oh, and that doesn’t include the stupid auto-followers who include their virus loaded web sites on their profile page.  Stay away if you’re one of them.

So enjoy this song and i’ll see you next week for another great video!  Come back Monday for the next installment from the latest Fab x (that x is for how many people Jim will be playing with – substitute at will!)

“Eleanor Rigby” (Beatles Cover)

By Federico Borluzzi:

Acoustic cover of “Eleanor Rigby” from the Revolver album (1966).  I didn’t have any orchestra, so I find my way to play this song with my acoustic guitar only.

** EDITOR’S NOTE: **

Go ahead and check out this stellar solo version of the Beatles classic “Eleanor Rigby.”  I, for one, wish I could fingerpick and sing at the same time like Federico can — I would have gotten a lot less comments on my “Just Breathe” (Pearl Jam) video, I can tell you that much!

The Laptop Sessions all began with Jim’s first Beatles cover song music video of “Here, There, and Everywhere,” and it’s always exciting to be able to induct a new, interesting cover into the Beatles category.  Thanks, Federico, for another great contribution to the Guest Sessions!

“Get Back” (Beatles Cover)

By Jeff:

Good evening and welcome to a very awesome Thumpin’ Thursday!  Before I begin, I just want to say that for the first time…I got Rick rolled.

Thanks a lot Jim.

Ok with that said, I can’t be the one to break the Beatles cover songs streak.  It is very possible that none of us will want to be the streak breaker.

So tonight, after I had parents’ night at school, a doctor appointment, a regular day of school, I had to definitely keep the Beatles’ streak alive.

And as long as Chris & Jim don’t take the songs that I actually CAN play (I can not say that I know too many more songs that I can quickly learn how to play unlike them), then I can keep up with them.

Well nonetheless, you can tell in the video I don’t look 100% because yeah I did just record this about 30 minutes ago.  Typically I record my video in the afternoon and post it in the evening.  Today prevented that, however.

But stick with it.  My McCartney impression isn’t bad.

I do want to comment that the series of covers we have provided have been some of the best we have ever posted here on guitarbucketlist.com.  I am jealous of Jim’s recorder, but I can’t bring myself to spend money on something similar.  So, yeah you’re stuck with the camera’s microphone for still some time longer.

And welcome to October.  My birthday approach-ith.  /shiver

Until next week!
