“Mother” (Pink Floyd Cover)

Do YOU record acoustic cover songs?  Submit your YouTube link and a blog post about your performance, why you chose the song, etc. to the “Fridays: The Guest Sessions” link in the weekly calendar above!

By Jeremy Hammond:

This is my cover of “Mother” by Pink Floyd from the album The Wall. I first recorded the rhythm and vocals, then overlaid another track for the guitar solo.

I had two versions of this up previously. On the first, a commenter suggested I add the solo, so I did. But then watching that second one, and then going back and listening to the original for the first time in ages, I realized I had the timing wrong in two parts. So I redid it yet again. This, my third “Mother” effort for YouTube, is one I am finally happy with.

** EDITOR’S NOTE: **

Jeremy’s session technically breaks the golden rule of “one live take” established since the first Laptop Session over two years ago.  That being said, his version of “Mother” is an excellent performance, and as he explained above, the solo was overdubbed and handled nicely in the video with a fade in and out.  We simply couldn’t deny you the opportunity to hear and see this great version.

Now if only he could clone himself, that would make for quite the duo…

Laptop Sessions contributor Jeff Copperthite first recorded this song in August 2008, and it quickly became one of his most popular and highest rated performances.  Click HERE to watch his version.

Thanks again, Jeremy, for contributing to the Guest Sessions!

Video Blog Milestone: Songwriter Jim Fusco at 40,000 and counting!

By Jim Fusco:

In my world, goals are made to be broken. I’m that “Type A” personality that needs to get things done and won’t stop until it’s done completely. That said, I made a goal for myself to get 100 subscribers and 35,000 YouTube views by my birthday next Tuesday, April 29.

I made that goal about two months ago, and today, I reached 40,000 views to go along with my 128 subscribers!

It’s a nice milestone, but I need to make a better goal for next time around, so here it is.

I would like 225 subscribers and 55,000 views by May 31st. It’s a lofty goal, seeing that as of now, I’m averaging about 10,000 views a month. I’m hoping May brings me 15,000. I think it’s possible, though.

Between the three of us, I don’t see any reason why we can’t shoot for 250,000 total views by the end of the year. We’re currently on pace to get 211,920 views by year end, but as we’ve seen in the past four months, this keeps growing by leaps and bounds. I can only think that we’ll easily eclipse that 250k number because the viewership seems to grow somewhat exponentially.

That said, goals are great if you intend to complete them, and that’s what Jim, Chris, and Jeff ALL plan to do here at the Laptop Sessions. Thank you for your support and we hope you’ll tell all your friends in person, on MySpace, and on Facebook to come watch some great videos here at https://guitarbucketlist.com!

“Aware” (New Music – Independent Music Songwriter Jeff Copperthite)

By Jim Fusco:

Welcome, welcome to Jim Fusco’s edition of “Original Wednesday” here at the Laptop Sessions! This only comes every three weeks for me, so when I get a shot, I make sure it’s a good one.

So, I bring you a great tune off of Jeff Copperthite’s new album, Greenlight, available here:

“Aware” is a song about a man wondering what’s going on when he’s not around his significant other. Don’t we all feel this way at one time or another? No matter how much you trust someone, the question still lingers sometimes.

Jeff goes on to say, “Perhaps I am scared of something that’s not there.” Very true. But that still doesn’t stop him from thinking about it!

This has got some great chords, a catchy tune, and is nice and fast-paced. It’s a great pick-me-up to the later part of Jeff’s album and sets up the last track, “Easy”, very well.

I hope you enjoy this edition of “Original Wednesday” and I’ll be back with one of my own originals from the new Masters of the Universe album, “Homestead’s Revenge” in three weeks. Stay tuned for my next video on Saturday and Chris’ video tomorrow at https://guitarbucketlist.com!

“Everything I Need” (Wallflowers Covers) – Triple Threat Tuesday

By Jim Fusco:

Welcome to another Triple Threat Tuesday edition of the Laptop Sessions, as Jeff, Chris, and I all bring you this great tune from the Wallflowers- “Everything I Need”.

It’s funny how much I love “Red Letter Days” but never could get into any of their other albums. I love the hooks and the rockin’ sound on that album- I’ll be doing other songs off of it soon including my favorite: “How Good It Can Get”.

We’re going to see the Wallflowers for the first time in a few weeks- check the blog at https://guitarbucketlist.com to read our reviews of the concert!

I did this song in ONE take- which is a very rare occurrence. I’ve always liked how simple this song is, but still incredibly catchy.

I have SO many songs I can’t wait to premiere for everyone, as I’ve been trying to get as many Sessions done as possible so I can continue work on my two new album projects.

These videos are only three in a series of acoustic cover songs here on the Fusco-Moore Productions Blog.

Jeff’s Version is unfortunately no longer on YouTube…but here’s:

Chris’ Version
