“Delirious Love” (Neil Diamond Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

Welcome to your Stupendous Sunday edition of The Laptop Sessions! Today I bring you yet another song that I know because it is a part of Jim’s collection. It also is really one of few songs that I know from Neil Diamond.

Today also marks my 30th Laptop Session!

Off of his album “Twelve Songs” (which there are actually thirteen on the album!) , he re-recorded a song he wrote already called “Delirious Love”, and he was heavily assisted in the production by Brian Wilson himself. The only part of the vocals I did were Brian’s backing to the bridge. The recorded version is so catchy, so I tried my best to make this session be just as catchy.

Oddly enough, my voice isn’t that bad for Neil’s style.

And even though there are really only three chords, what a great song. I hope you enjoy this session!

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Jeff’s acoustic cover song music videos are no longer on YouTube, but we decided to keep his cover song blog posts up.  We figured these music blog entries would be good for posterity’s sake and because Jeff always gave such insightful posts each Session.  We hope to see Jeff’s impressive catalog of acoustic rock songs here on the Laptop Sessions cover songs and original music blog again in the future.  But, for now, please make sure to check-out hundreds of other acoustic cover songs from all of your favorite bands here on the Laptop Sessions music blog!

“Nights in White Satin” (Moody Blues Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Well, in the world of Moody Blues songs, it doesn’t get much more popular than “Nights in White Satin”, written by the great Justin Hayward.

I wanted to do this classic song for the Laptop Sessions music video blog because I thought it would translate well to a solo acoustic performance. I hope you like my whistling flute solo! 🙂 I wasn’t gonna do it, but Chris and Becky egged me on, and I think I nailed it!!

I love the vocal exercise this song presents and I’ve always thought that Justin Hayward has one of the best singing voices ever.  He’s also one of the greatest songwriters ever and can play an amazing guitar.  As with most of my favorite musicians and songwriters, Justin Hayward doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his incredible talents.  His acoustic guitar work on songs like “Question” haven’t been reproduced since.  And his electric guitar work gets almost no attention, even though it’s amazing.  Have you heard the guitar on “Story in Your Eyes”?  It’s face-meltingly awesome!  The tone he gets and his style of playing belie the calm and proper British personality he portrays.  Well, even if Justin Hayward (or the Moody Blues as a band, for that matter) doesn’t get the credit he/they deserves, I’m still glad I can share some of his greatness with you, my loyal Laptop Sessions acoustic cover song watchers.

So, this is a high bar to rise above, but I’m such a big Moody Blues fan that I know the song backwards and forwards.  It would be great to record a version of this someday, but honestly, how can I improve upon perfection?  I think I’ll stick to classic songs like this on solo acoustic guitar for my posts here on the music blog.

Enjoy today’s Session!

Local Songwriters Excited – The New FMP Studios Site is Nearing Completion!

By Jim Fusco:

So, maybe some of you have wondered why nothing comes up when you click on the “FMP Studios” link in that pretty top bar we have on all our sites. Kids, let me give you this piece of advice: NEVER let your links go to a non-existent page! It gets customers angry and frustrated, plus it looks REALLY unprofessional.

So, I’ve decided to hole Cliff up in my basement treat him to breakfast tomorrow in an effort to jump start his work on the Studios site. If, by some act of God, we can get it back in my hands soon (because there’s a lot of tedious Flash animations to be done), I can dump the content in and we can get it online by Monday.

What IS FMP Studios, you ask?

Well, it is a goal of mine to eventually open my own studio. I mean, I have one here at the condo, but I need a place of business- a place where clients can come and I can “go to work”. Having it at home just doesn’t have that effect.

I’ll be offering six different services: Audio, Video, Web, Graphics, Photos, and Marketing. I can’t wait for the site to go up because I’ve already done SO many projects and this will be my chance to show them off, while hopefully getting some new clients in the process. Plus, I’ll be able to work with good friends and excellent talents like Cliff Huizenga and Dana Camp much more often.

Now, this site will be COOL and I guarantee it’s NOTHING like any site you’ve ever seen before. I got the idea while I was trying to fall asleep last night and it took me HOURS to get this done in Photoshop, but it’s finally ready. Remember, this site will have many rollover buttons and animations, so what you’re seeing is truly only the tip of the iceberg.

So, without further ado, I give you the design for the brand-new Fusco-Moore Studios!

“Please Stay” (Indie Music by Songwriter Chris Moore)

By Chris Moore:

Welcome back for an all-new recording on guitarbucketlist.com! If you’ve been here before, then you probably know that today is “Original Wednesday,” and it’s my pleasure to bring you one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written, titled “Please Stay.”

I wrote this song a while back as a contribution for Masters of the Universe. My bandmate, Jim Fusco, helped me refine the chord structure and added in an incredible duo of guitar solos — that’s right, two distinct solos in one song! (If MoU ever releases Homestead’s Revenge, the fully-produced version will be on it.)

Of course, this is an acoustic performance, and you’ll hear the rarely-used third verse that replaces the second solo. I’ve never been entirely happy with the third verse, so I’ve amended it a bit for this recording. Without further ado, “Please Stay”!
