“Please Stay” (Indie Music by Songwriter Chris Moore)

Welcome back for an all-new recording on guitarbucketlist.com! If you’ve been here before, then you probably know that today is “Original Wednesday,” and it’s my pleasure to bring you one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written, titled “Please Stay.”

I wrote this song a while back as a contribution for Masters of the Universe. My bandmate, Jim Fusco, helped me refine the chord structure and added in an incredible duo of guitar solos — that’s right, two distinct solos in one song! (If MoU ever releases Homestead’s Revenge, the fully-produced version will be on it.)

Of course, this is an acoustic performance, and you’ll hear the rarely-used third verse that replaces the second solo. I’ve never been entirely happy with the third verse, so I’ve amended it a bit for this recording. Without further ado, “Please Stay”!

“One Headlight” (Wallflowers Cover)

Okay, so I have good news and bad news. Good news — MoU has finally released their highly anticipated second album, Homestead’s Revenge. It’s really the next step up from the more “live-in-the-studio” sound of our debut. And the songwriting includes all members. Not only do Jim, Mike, Cliff and I have our own songs, but we co-wrote three as a full band! I hope you’ll listen to album and purchase it at http://jimfusco.com/albums.html !

Now, for the bad news… While it’s been a lot of fun to record these Laptop Sessions, I’m afraid I’ve become far too busy to keep fitting them in. So, today I bring you my final, my farewell Laptop Session…

This Wallflowers song, “One Headlight,” is the first song I ever truly loved. I was in 7th grade, and whenever my dad and I were in the car and heard this song, we would crank the volume. This is saying something, because music wasn’t all that important to me back then. I never did buy the album, as the Sam Goody’s store in my local mall only had a copy with a cracked case. I couldn’t bring myself to spend what was then a lot of money for me on a less than perfect product. Ironically, I would go on to listen to songwriter Jakob Dylan’s father (yes, Bob Dylan!) and he would become my absolute favorite artist.

When I eventually did buy the Bringing Down the Horse album, I fell in love with not only this song, but the band. And I recently recorded “Sixth Avenue Heartache,” another BDTH alum, for a previous Laptop Session.

All right, I can’t go on with the lie — April Fool’s! This is far from my final Laptop Session, as Jim, Jeff, and I continue to record a new session-a-day for all of 2008. That’s right, all 366 days! I hope you’ll come back to https://guitarbucketlist.com tomorrow for a new session from Jeff!

“Another One” (New Music – Indie Music Songwriter Chris Moore!)

Well, it only comes but once every three weeks for each of us… that’s right, Original Wednesday! This week, I bring you my second of two songs from my summer demo sessions. For anyone who didn’t read my previous OW! post, I spent a weekend this past summer recording demos of all my songs I hadn’t recorded previously. This release, Weekend Demos, included a couple songs that I had written within weeks or even days of the recording session. It also included a lot of older songs, including one from five years in the past — when I was a senior in high school.

This song, “Another One,” was written somewhere in between the two extremes, during college. I wrote it about how balancing relationships can be not only difficult, but also confusing. I sing the lead a bit low and I always worry that it’s hard to hear over the guitar, but I was really happy with how it builds up to the middle.

I hope you enjoy this, and I’m looking forward to my next Original Wednesday. I’ll either be recording one of my own originals or something off the new MoU release, Homestead’s Revenge. If you haven’t heard it yet, listen to the album at http://jimfusco.com/albums.html !

“Good Night Now” (Original Music from Indie Music Songwriter Chris Moore)

Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of “Original Wednesday,” our absolute favorite day of the week here at the music blog that brings you a new music video EACH and EVERY day! Original Wednesday is our favorite day because it gives us an opportunity to show off our own songwriting. The whole reason why we do these acoustic cover songs in the first place is to hopefully interest people who like to listen to new music to come and listen to our original music. Jim, Jeff, and I have been producing music for Fusco-Moore Productions for almost a decade now, and we couldn’t be more thrilled when Wednesday rolls around and we can record our own original music!

That being said, I dug into my catalog this week for an original song that I haven’t recorded yet. Over the past several months, I have recorded every original song that I have contributed to my band’s past two releases (the self-titled Masters of the Universe in 2006 and Homestead’s Revenge in 2008). I figured that these are the songs of mine that have seen the most circulation. Well, now that I have finished those, I am beginning to look back at my solo releases. Some of the MoU songs were previously recorded on solo releases, so those are out. However, my 2006 EP, Love Out of Fashion, is a work unto itself — none of the tracks on that album have been recorded or released in any other form.

For tonight’s session, I chose “Good Night Now,” the second track on the album. I hope you’ll take the time to listen to the studio version as well (CLICK HERE to listen!) because it has some of the most experimental guitar effects I had used up to that point. I wrote this song about two female co-workers who I felt very strongly about; these were relationships I established in high school and which lasted up until they left the Staples (where I worked at the time) several years later. I think that the realization that people you think you know in one environment (work, for instance) are really quite different elsewhere is a common one, and it hit me hard when I finally realized. Thus, this song…
