By Jeff Copperthite:

The day has arrived! After months of recording, writing, and late nights, my first solo album has been released today!

I am very proud of this work, and I hope that you give it a listen and buy it if you like it. I have looked forward to this day since I announced the project.

It is hard to describe music in words, so the best recommendation I have for you to is to listen to it yourself – head on over to the store and preview it, and for $4 you can experience a fresh new album anywhere you want on your mp3 player.

“Give” (Dishwalla Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

What a great week this has been doing “New Bands Week”. To close it out, I have an obscure song that i’m not sure many will recognize.

The band I have dug out from the archives is Dishwalla, and their single “Give” from their debut album Pet Your Friends. You may recognize the band name from their single “Counting Blue Cars”. This was also a single, but received little airplay.

The song has a weird organ solo at the end that I didn’t attempt to play backing chords too, so I simply ended the song with the last line “What would you give?”. There are a few songs from this band that I know how to play, so you may see them again in the future.

Be sure to check out http://jimfusco.com for my album Greenlight. Enjoy today’s Laptop Session and check back for a brand new session from the Fuscinator himself.

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Jeff’s acoustic cover song music videos are no longer on YouTube, but we decided to keep his cover song blog posts up.  We figured these music blog entries would be good for posterity’s sake and because Jeff always gave such insightful posts each Session.  We hope to see Jeff’s impressive catalog of acoustic rock songs here on the Laptop Sessions cover songs and origianal music blog again in the future.  But, for now, please make sure to check-out hundreds of other acoustic cover songs from all of your favorite bands here on the Laptop Sessions music blog!

Songwriter Video Blog Milestone: 20,000 YouTube views!

By Jim Fusco:

Sometime during the day on Friday, I reached the 20,000 views plateau on YouTube! To tell the truth, I’m not overjoyed, as many YouTube single videos have well over that number. But, it definitely gives me hope that I may hit my goal of 100,000 views halfway through 2008. Thank you to all who’s watched so far and please go back and give another listen! 🙂

“No One Else” (Weezer Cover)

By Chris Moore:

It’s hard to believe “new bands week” is almost over! It’s been a lot of fun — hopefully we’ll do it again soon before we run out of new bands!

My song for today, “No One Else,” is from my second favorite Weezer album, their self-titled debut known among fans as “The Blue Album.” For some reason, I had a hard time getting into the album when I first heard it. When I listened again about a year later, I really fell in love with its sound and energy. It’s about as close to garage rock as my preferences go… I felt this song translated easily into an acoustic version, and it was fun to learn a song from a band I have never covered before!

Hope you enjoyed “new bands week” and all the new bands!
