“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” (Beach Boys Cover)

Welcome to another edition of The Laptop Sessions here on “Track 1 Week”!  That’s where the singers, songwriters, and musicians of the Laptop Sessions acoustic cover songs music video blog pick a song that started off an album (thus “Track One”) and covered it for the best music blog on the internet!

Today, I give you one of the best album-opening songs to one of the best albums of all time: Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys!  And, if you know me, you know that doing Beach Boys cover songs is one of my favorite things to do!

“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” is also a favorite song of Chris Moore and Becky Daly, two fellow MoU members.  We never attempted to do this song in concert, though I think we should’ve given it a shot.  I think with all of the production that the original version had, it’s daunting to try and recreate it live.  The members of Brian Wilson’s incredible touring band do that on each and every tour, but they have about 12 people on stage at one time.  When it’s just five people, that task gets a little harder for sure.  But, knowing the chords and the changes (and frankly, how well my cover video came out), I think we could’ve pulled it off as a band.

Tomorrow night, The Laptop Sessions Live plays a three-hour set at George’s II Restaurant in Wallingford, CT. We’re very excited and it oughta be an amazing event. I hope to record the audio for future release.  There’s sure to be mostly original songs, but some of our favorite covers.  You’ll hear plenty from the Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, the Wallflowers, and I’m sure we’ll sprinkle some Beatles cover songs in there, too!

I hope you’ll come back tomorrow for another album-starter from Chris Moore and check out Jeff’s last two videos, as well- they were great!

“My Brave Face” (Paul McCartney Cover)

By Jim Fusco:

Welcome to your Friday edition of the Laptop Sessions with me, Jim Fusco!

Tonight, I bring you a cool tune from Paul McCartney, “My Brave Face”. I always knew of this song, hearing it on the radio and such, but for some reason, I fell in love with it a couple years ago. I guess I never really knew it was Paul.

It’s a TOUGH song to sing and I just can’t seem to shake this cold lately, but I prepped myself by eating and drinking a lot before I did the take. It always makes me feel better.

There’s also some really tough lines to sing, as they have this odd syncopation to them. The line, “Ever since you left I have been trying to compose a ‘baby will you please come home’ note meant for you”. Are you kidding me? It took a while to get that one down.

But, I really like the way the whole video came out and I think you’ll agree it’s one of my more passionate ones.

Enjoy tonight’s video and make sure to get yourself back to https://www.guitarbucketlist.com tomorrow for another new video from the one and only Chris Moore!

Local Songwriters Excited – The New FMP Studios Site is Nearing Completion!

By Jim Fusco:

So, maybe some of you have wondered why nothing comes up when you click on the “FMP Studios” link in that pretty top bar we have on all our sites. Kids, let me give you this piece of advice: NEVER let your links go to a non-existent page! It gets customers angry and frustrated, plus it looks REALLY unprofessional.

So, I’ve decided to hole Cliff up in my basement treat him to breakfast tomorrow in an effort to jump start his work on the Studios site. If, by some act of God, we can get it back in my hands soon (because there’s a lot of tedious Flash animations to be done), I can dump the content in and we can get it online by Monday.

What IS FMP Studios, you ask?

Well, it is a goal of mine to eventually open my own studio. I mean, I have one here at the condo, but I need a place of business- a place where clients can come and I can “go to work”. Having it at home just doesn’t have that effect.

I’ll be offering six different services: Audio, Video, Web, Graphics, Photos, and Marketing. I can’t wait for the site to go up because I’ve already done SO many projects and this will be my chance to show them off, while hopefully getting some new clients in the process. Plus, I’ll be able to work with good friends and excellent talents like Cliff Huizenga and Dana Camp much more often.

Now, this site will be COOL and I guarantee it’s NOTHING like any site you’ve ever seen before. I got the idea while I was trying to fall asleep last night and it took me HOURS to get this done in Photoshop, but it’s finally ready. Remember, this site will have many rollover buttons and animations, so what you’re seeing is truly only the tip of the iceberg.

So, without further ado, I give you the design for the brand-new Fusco-Moore Studios!
