Welcome to thumpin’ Thursday, the first post in which my view count is in the 6 digits!  I have a great song from REM for tonight’s session.

I have lately wanted to really take the time to cover the songs that I have wanted to cover and that I enjoy covering.  However, if you have a request please feel free to request it!  I love doing requests, but if I get none I just fall back on the songs and bands that I like.

I have always loved the album this song is off of.  I pretty much have each song memorized.

I hope you enjoy this album cut, and see you next week for more fun!

“Best Of My Love” (Eagles Cover)

Good evening to everyone out there! It’s Jeff bringing you today’s edition of The Laptop Sessions, and our third addition to #1 week here. I bring you a new band, and another hit #1 song.

Today’s band is The Eagles, among the kings of classic rock, and their #1 hit from “On the Border” – “Best Of My Love” is today’s song. I have always enjoyed The Eagles since my father introduced them to me when I was a kid. You will see more sessions from them in the future.

I always have liked this song, as have many others. The strumming is very catchy, and the story it tells of relationships is a good one as well.

“Back on the Train” (Phish Cover)

My acoustic cover of “Back on the Train” by Phish, from the Farmhouse album. I intend to go back and overlay another track for the solos, but here’s the “single take” version with just rhythm and vocals.

** EDITOR’S NOTE: **

For Jeremy’s third Guest Session contribution, he has brought yet another new band to the Laptop Sessions cover song music video blog.  Somehow, Phish have slipped by these past couple years without ever being acknowledged by the Laptop Sessions crew.

No longer!

As per usual, this is a great video of an upbeat performance — Jeremy’s vocals are beautifully authentic to Trey Anastasio’s original lead.  And, of course, the chords sound quirky and, again, perfectly authentic to the Farmhouse track.  Farmhouse was their final record before they announced a hiatus, even if they have gone on to release new discs at a steady pace since then, including this year’s most recent Phish album, Joy.
