“In Dreams” (Roy Orbison Cover)

By Jeff Copperthite:

Welcome to another terrific Thumpin’ Thursday edition of The Laptop Sessions. Today I bring you a new artist, and the next entry into our “Title Track” series. This also goes out by request from Rory, so thanks for this request!

Roy Orbison becomes our latest artist to enter our library and I am covering the title track from Orbison’s 1963 album “In Dreams”, naturally titled “In Dreams” (Yeah, like I needed to type that twice). This is a great mellow song, has a unique structure (read: none), and showcases Roy’s incredible range and voice. Orbison really had a gift and I am glad that future generations like me get to experience his music over and over like this.

I definitely want to cover more of Roy’s work in the near future. It really is amazing how many songs are by him that float around the radio stations.

Title track week continues tomorrow with Jim’s 2nd pick, then closes on Saturday with Chris’ 3rd pick (including his AWESOME original Wednesday pick from yesterday). Be sure to keep coming back as we approach the halfway mark of session-a-day!

Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, Jeff’s acoustic cover song music videos are no longer on YouTube, but we decided to keep his cover song blog posts up.  We figured these music blog entries would be good for posterity’s sake and because Jeff always gave such insightful posts each Session.  We hope to see Jeff’s impressive catalog of acoustic rock songs here on the Laptop Sessions cover songs and original music blog again in the future.  But, for now, please make sure to check-out hundreds of other acoustic cover songs from all of your favorite bands here on the Laptop Sessions music blog!

Jim Fusco Reaches 800,000 YouTube Video Views- Cover songs, music videos, and more.

Around Christmas Day, Jim Fusco (a musician, singer, and songwriter who’s recorded over 220 cover song music videos on YouTube) reached 800,000 total views on his videos!  Jim began posting videos in late 2007 and is now 80% towards his goal of a million total views.  Jim has recorded these cover song music videos in his home studio and prides himself on doing songs in the original key.  But, his solo acoustic renditions give songs new life and a fresh perspective.  Since the start of the Laptop Sessions, Jim Fusco’s goal has been to put an end to bad YouTube cover videos forever!

Jim’s cover song music videos have been featured in many Top 10 Cover Songs lists and at this point, he pretty much holds the title of most cover song music videos ever recorded by one artist!  Join Jim Fusco on his quest to rule the world of cover songs both on https://guitarbucketlist.com and http://youtube.com on a weekly basis!

Jim Fusco Reaches 800 YouTube Subscribers!

Today, Jim Fusco reached 800 YouTube video subscribers! This was done without a single “invite”, meaning these are all people who listened to Jim’s acoustic cover song music videos and liked them so much, they decided to subscribe.

Here’s looking forward to Jim’s goal of 1,000 subscribers and a million views!

Another Music Blog Milestone: Jim Fusco Surpasses 500,000 YouTube Video Views!

By Jim Fusco:

Folks, I’m proud to announce that I’ve crossed over the half-million mark.  Yes, 500,000 YouTube video views on my acoustic cover songs and counting!  The popularity of this YouTube series has skyrocketed since I started it all back in late 2007.  It feels like so much longer than two years.  But, 200 videos, over 730 subscribers, and over a half-million video views later, here we are!

The numbers continue to grow and I can only hope that the next 500,000 (which I’m hoping will come in just half the time as the first half-million) will be comprised of more views from the blog itself and not through searches on YouTube.

Thank you to all my subscribers and everyone that’s helped make the Laptop Sessions such an internet sensation!
